Cold, Snow, and New Beginnings

January 23, 2022—I just pulled some cinnamon and sugar streusel muffins from the oven for the family to enjoy for breakfast. But while they cool a little, I’ll write a little about this past week.

Right now it is somewhere between 20 and 26 degrees! It has been a bitterly cold week with temperatures down to between 8 and 10 degrees, even without the wind chill factor! (And highs in the 20s!) But we got some beautiful snow out of it. And that makes it all worth it! 😊 😁 🌨 ❄️ (I’ll try to get some snow pictures posted on one or more of our site’s pages.)

This was a big week for Hailey as she started working full time at PDQ! She is enjoying it there. It’s a great place to work, and I am so happy for her. She joins the other three members of our household who already have PDQ as a second home. 🙂 (Four of the eight of us work there now!) It was also a big week for Anjali as she turned 16!!! (Pictures will be posted on another page.) We had fun celebrating with her. She chose to have cupcakes from Lancaster Cupcakes instead of a cake. And boy were they good!!! It was our first time to go to their store/bakery/restaurant and to bring home an order. Lord willing, it won’t be our last! She was hoping for a trip down to D.C. this weekend, as a special birthday outing. But because of some other things that came up, that trip is being postponed. We look forward to a drive down soon. She is especially wanting to visit the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, and the Museum of Bible. (I can’t wait to walk around the National Mall and enjoy some delicious food!) I love D.C.! 🇺🇸 😊

Finally, it was an unexpectedly big weekend for Tyler and Richard! Until yesterday Tyler’s room was up in the loft and Richard and Bud were sharing a room. But yesterday we busted it out and got what will one day be set up as our game room, down in the basement, all set up as a bedroom. And now Tyler and Richard are roommates with their own space down there. They have their own man space, Bud has a room to himself again, and Steve and I have the loft back to use as a library/study/sitting area. Win-win. 🙂

I’ll close now. (The muffins are plenty cool enough to eat by now.) 😉 It was a good week. The first week of feeling nearly 100% again after three weeks of Covid followed by a week of extremely painful tooth infection. Which is now all better. I enjoyed getting out to Hippo Bubble Tea, Weis, Wegmans, Lancaster Cupcakes, and the Disney Store with the kids. And I enjoyed driving three of my Amish neighbors to Hobby Lobby where they enjoy looking around and shopping as much as we do! 😄
